Hiatus From Madness

As of today, Rhoades to Madness will no longer update (or even try) on Monday-Wednesday-Friday. I will NOT be shutting down the blog, but it will only be updated on a whenever-I-feel-like-it schedule.

There are a few factors behind this decision. The least important of them being that barely anyone reads this. My pageviews absolutely tanked in December for some reason, and have continued to drop over the last few months despite pretty regular updates. This is not to say, “No one likes me, so I’m taking my ball and going home” but more that it’s a lot easier to walk away when I’ve never managed to find an audience.

The real driving forces are, as always, time and energy and money. I’ve got other projects I need to start working on that may even eventually help pay the bills, so I need to start focusing on those.

Again, this is not Goodbye so much as I’ll see ya when I see ya, so I’m not gonna get all weepy and start doing shout-outs. I will continue to post on my Tumblr, The Green Road, and will stay active on Twitter.

With any luck, it won’t be too long before I’ll feel comfortable firing up the Madness again. Until then, thanks for reading!

  1. Understandable if you’ve got other things jockeying for your time. I know that feeling of “too many interesting things to do, too little time” all too well.

The dip in page hits is almost certainly due to Google Images changing the way they do things — i.e., the search now goes directly to the image and doesn’t show the page unless the user chooses to go there. Every blogger has reported a huge drop in page hits right at the turn of the year from that. Mine got set back about six months.

    • I figured that probably had something to do with it.

But anyway, thanks for stopping by here and making it look like someone was reading every once and awhile, Morgan! Rest assured, I’ll still be lurking around on your blog.
