The drought continues to rage on here in the Midwest, but while the grass, plants, crops, and even some trees are either dead or dying, a few industrious flowers didn’t get the memo to pack it in for the season. This resilient Morning Glory found purchase in a tiny patch of dirt next to my apartment’s parking lot, apparently unconcerned about the absence of water. Her bigger siblings drape over the fence several yards away, adding a much needed splash of color to what has become an intensely brown landscape.
There is an actual chance for decent rains tonight, so let’s hope for all our sakes that the Morning Glory’s stubbornness is rewarded.
